Following the Swiss National Asphyxia and Cooling Register Protocol, 449 neonates (449/570, 788%) presenting with moderate-to-severe HIE received therapeutic hypothermia (TH). A notable enhancement in TH process quality indicators was seen from 2015 to 2018, compared to the 2011-2014 timeframe. These improvements were characterized by less passive cooling (p=0.013), a quicker arrival at the target temperature (p=0.002), and a reduced frequency of temperature excursions (over- or undercooling, p<0.001). This study investigated the effects of diazinon, at a concentration of 50% of its 96-hour lethal concentration 50 (LC50) at 525 ppm, on the expression of superoxide dismutase (SOD) genes (sod1, sod2, and sod3b), and the activity of the SOD enzyme in platyfish liver and gill tissues at the completion of 24, 48, 72, and 96 hours. For this purpose, we mapped the tissue-specific presence of sod1, sod2, and sod3b genes, and then performed in silico studies on the platyfish (Xiphophorus maculatus). Platyfish exposed to diazinon displayed a marked increase in malondialdehyde (MDA) concentration and a corresponding decrease in superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme activity in both liver and gill tissues. Liver MDA values were 4390 EU/mg protein (control), 6245 EU/mg protein (24 hours), 7317 EU/mg protein (48 hours), 8218 EU/mg protein (72 hours), and 9293 EU/mg protein (96 hours). Gill MDA values were 1644 EU/mg protein (control), 3347 EU/mg protein (24 hours), 5038 EU/mg protein (48 hours), 6462 EU/mg protein (72 hours), and 7404 EU/mg protein (96 hours). A parallel decrease in sod gene expression was also observed. Liver tissue showed significant expression of sod genes, compared to other tissues, with distinct concentrations of sod1 (62832), sod2 (63759), and sod3b (8885). Therefore, the liver emerged as a suitable candidate for further gene expression analysis. According to phylogenetic analyses, the sod genes of platyfish are orthologous to the sod/SOD genes of other vertebrates. The neurological disorder epilepsy is associated with frequent seizures. Early seizure prediction is vital for the management and care of epilepsy patients. This paper details a novel model for seizure prediction, incorporating multi-head attention within a convolutional neural network (CNN). This model's architecture includes a shallow convolutional neural network automatically capturing EEG features, and multi-headed attention is used to differentiate relevant information from those features, enabling the identification of pre-ictal EEG segments. In contrast to existing CNN-based seizure prediction architectures, the embedded multi-headed attention grants a shallow CNN increased flexibility, enabling faster and more effective training. Henceforth, this condensed model displays a greater resistance to the trap of overfitting. The proposed method, applied to scalp EEG data extracted from two publicly available epileptic EEG databases, exhibited superior performance across event-level sensitivity, false prediction rate (FPR), and epoch-level F1 metrics. In addition, our technique produced a stable prediction timeframe for seizure duration, consistently spanning 14 to 15 minutes. Brain connectivity networks, while useful for understanding and diagnosing developmental dyslexia, have not had their causal connections sufficiently examined to date. Using electroencephalography signals and a 48 Hz (prosodic-syllabic) band-limited white noise stimulus, we quantify phase Granger causality among channels to discern differences between dyslexic learners and controls, thus presenting a technique for calculating directional connectivity. Since causal relationships are bidirectional, we delve into three scenarios: channels' activity as sources, as sinks, and comprehensively. Our proposed method provides a framework encompassing both classification and exploratory analysis. The temporal sampling framework's model of oscillatory disparities between Theta and Gamma bands finds consistent support in the right-lateralized Theta sampling network anomaly across every situation. In addition, we showcase that this anomaly is principally manifested in the causal relationships of channels acting as sinks, where its effect is far more substantial than when only the totality of activity is measured. Analyzing the sink scenario, our classifier produced accuracy figures of 0.84 and 0.88, and AUC values of 0.87 and 0.93 for the Theta and Gamma bands, respectively.
